This was the day Krissy was looking forward to the most! We departed the Abbey early to head to Lock Ness by Jackobite! We boarded our ship and off we went on the Loch Ness. I didn’t realize how big the loch is. It’s 750 feet deep and 23 miles long. If you took the water from all the lakes in England, it still wouldn’t fill the Loch Ness. The water stays about 5°C / 41°F. It never freezes and it never gets warm.
First, this guy greets you as your getting to the boat!
Now here’s a thousand pictures from Loch Ness…(admittedly, I had hoped, when I got home, I’d find I’d accidentally captured a picture of Nessi…but no such luck…
I’m obsessed with the Westies here!
The richest man in the UK owns this estate (sorry ladies, he’s already married).
This is his £300,000 boat house. It doesn’t have any nails in it; all just joints cut into the wood.
And we’re back to shore!
We went to the cafe for lunch. I finally had a salad (I missed my green!).
On the way out there was a cop!!!
After the hunt, we headed to Urquhart Castle.
I love this castle is all the ruins!
I thought for sure I’d have had to bail Lisa out of this jail!
Krissy thought she saw Nessi!
I got a picture of Lisa from VERY far away!
After the castle we moved on to the Loch Ness Center. We did the tour that gave the history of the area, how tails of the Loch Ness Monster began and other facts about the loch.
Krissy finally got her picture with Nessie!
After doing some damage at the gift shop (not sure how I’m getting all this home), we got gelato (because Lisa couldn’t believe she’s gone this long without ice cream!).

Once we finished we headed towards our Airbnb in Boat of Garten. It’s a super cute cottage with a garden to relax in.
D
We walked into town for dinner at the Boat restaurant. I had the chicken balmoral (which I didn’t realize was chicken stuffed with haggis).
Inside has some very eclectic things😀
The Royal Scotsman was also passing through; a high end luxury train that tours through Scotland.
